MEEKER | The final swim meet of 2019 found the Moffat County relay team cutting times once again. The team traveled to Montrose on Dec. 20 for the one day Montrose High School meet to compete against seven other teams in a field of 134 girls.
The 200-yard freestyle relay of Jeni Kincher, Alexa Neton, Kelsey McDiffet and Ellina Jones is now within 1.5 seconds of qualifying for state. They finished with a time of 1 minute 57.30 seconds cutting another 1.55 seconds off of their time.
The 200-yard medley relay team, comprised of the same girls, cut a whopping 3.09 seconds to place ninth with a time of 2 minutes 17.65 seconds, inching closer to that state qualifying time.
Individuals finishing in the top 10 were McDiffet in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1 minute 20.65 seconds that secured eighth place. Meekerites Kincher and Kate Lockwood also swam this event, finishing in 1:32.58 and 1:28.77 respectively.
Neton, the only other team member to finish in an individual event in the top 10, took seventh in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2 minutes 27.91 seconds.
Now on the holiday break the team will be back in the water on Jan. 10 and 11 for a two-day invitational in Montrose.
