Barone students take learning trip to Granby

The Barone Middle School sixth graders went on an educational team building trip to YMCA of the Rockies in Granby, where they learned a lot about teamwork, ecology, survival and history. Teamwork was a big part of the entire trip, and several activities were done to bring the sixth graders closer together.

Barone sets new Big Bucks and Bulls contest

MEEKER I Once again this year, Barone Middle School in Meeker will holds its annual Big Bucks and Bulls Contest in which students at the school can win nice prizes and improve their math at the same time by bringing in the deer or elk antlers they harvest this hunting season.

Meeker Fire District donates $80,000 fire alarm system to Barone school

MEEKER I On Aug. 13, the Meeker Fire District board voted unanimously to donate up to $80,000 to Barone Middle School to cover the cost of an all-new and much-needed fire alarm system.

TELL survey at Barone indicates school teachers pretty much satisfied

MEEKER I Principal Jim Hanks and the staff at Barone Middle School have something to be proud of. The BMS Colorado Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning (TELL) Survey results this year show high scores and improvements in teacher beliefs through several categories of school evaluation.

MHS and BMS concert Monday

MEEKER | Jeff Hemingson, the director of choral and instrumental music at Meeker High School and Barone Middle School, has announced that the combined spring choir and band concert will be held on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Meeker High School auditorium.

Barone wins history contest and will send 16 students to state

Several Barone Middle School students in Meeker qualified at the regional History Day competition on March 7 in Grand Junction to compete at the state competition, which will be held May 2 in Denver. MEEKER I At the regional National History Day competition in Grand Junction on March 7, Meeker’s Barone Middle School beat out Olathe Middle School by one project, forwarding 16 students with eight projects to state competition, to be held in Denver on May 2.

MEEKER I Sporting the theme of “Leadership and Legacy,” the week of Feb. 17-20 was History Project Week at Barone Middle School.

Barone team wins area competition

Several Barone Middle School students combined efforts to win the MathCounts competition for the Western Slope in Grand Junction over the weekend. Usually, the winners of the competition are older students, but the Barone students prevailed. MEEKER I On Feb. 28, students from Barone Middle School traveled to Grand Junction to compete in the Western Slope MathCounts competition, emerging as champions in the team competition and placing highly as individuals.
