The Barone Middle School football teams played their final game of the season in Starbuck Stadium against the Glenwood Springs Demons. The seventh-graders finished with a 2-4 record and the eighth-grade finished 0-6. Young Cowboys…

Barone Middle School seventh-grade quarterback Ryan Phelan gets some good blocking from his linemen against the Steamboat Springs Sailors. The young Cowboys have lost twice to the Sailors this season, but they beat Grand Valley. The eighth-grade team is still looking for its first win of the season. More than 37 kids went out for the team, which is coached by Darby Finley, Clinton Kilduff, Chip Brown and Jason Browning. The Cowboys will play in Craig on Saturday, then host Glenwood Springs the following week in the final game of the season.

Touchdown!

Cole Rogers intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown with 12 seconds left in the game to give Meeker’s Barone Middle School a come-from-behind 12-6 victory over Steamboat Springs last Saturday.

The snowstorm started before the Thursday football game between the Rangely Middle School Panthers and the Barone Middle School Cowboys in Starbuck Stadium but it didn’t prevent them from playing the game under the lights. Meeker won 22-6.

MEEKER I The Barone Middle School football team was at home Saturday against Grand Valley and both the seventh and eighth grade teams battled hard but fell short against the tough teams.

MEEKER I The Barone Middle School A-team won two more football games last week and will play their final game of the season today in Starbuck Stadium against the Steamboat Springs Sailors. The BMS B-team won one and tied one and will also play its final game at home against the Rangely Panthers Saturday.
