Ace Trucking capped off an undefeated coed softball season with a team title in the season-ending tournament Tuesday night at Paintbrush Park. Ace Trucking entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed and defeated No. 2 seeded New Creation Church in the championship. Summer Entertainment Series…

Jon Chandler, center, a long-time Front Range purveyor of country, Western, folk and bluegrass music, brought his band to Meeker on Friday for a concert on the courthouse lawn under the setting sun. The combined sounds of the electric guitar, acoustical guitar and the mandolin made for a highly entertaining concert of mixed country-style music. Sponsored by the WRBM Recreation and Park District as part of its 10th annual Summer Entertainment Series, there was a group of about 60 people in attendance.

More than 20 compete in triathlon

The 2015 ERBM Recreation and Park District Road Rash ‘n Splash Kids Triathlon took place Aug. 4 with more than 20 kids participating, including several from Craig, where they swam, biked and ran, competing in four different age division. MEEKER I More than 20 kids completed the annual Road Rash ‘n Splash Kids’ Triathlon, sponsored by the ERBM Recreation and Park District. Boys and girls were divided into four age divisions, then swam, biked and ran different distances, depending on their age.

Co-ed softball…

Donald Blazon, who plays for Ace Trucking in the Meeker Co-ed Softball League, sponsored by the ERBM Recreation and Parks District, takes a swing during a recent game at Paintbrush Park. Ace Trucking will enter the annual tournament, which starts Monday, as the No. 1 seed. The championship game will be played on Tuesday at Paintbrush Park.


Participants ran from the Rio Blanco County Courthouse lawn to the 6th Street Field, where they completed an obstacle course and got colored with dye. The end of the event, which was part of the ERBM Recreation and Park District’s Meeker Appreciation Day, featured a “color explosion,” in which each participant threw a cup full of dye into the air to create the colorful display. More than 50 runners took part.

MEEKER | The Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District is showing its appreciation for the support it has received throughout the year with Community Appreciation Day on Saturday.

Band plays Friday on courthouse lawn

MEEKER I The Meeker Summer Entertainment Series, sponsored by the Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Parks District, will offer free music from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday on the lawn at the Rio Blanco County Courthouse on Main Street in Meeker.

19 teams join Range Call 3-on-3 basketball play; six teams win

MEEKER I Nineteen teams endured the heat on Saturday to play in the annual Main Street Madness 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, in which six teams won championships in three different age divisions.

New race course this year at Run for Your Life 5K

MEEKER I This year Run for Your Life race participants will have a new course route to mix up the 36-year-old July 4 event in Meeker.
