Bank’s fall festival and hospital race part of the fun on Saturday

Part of the fun at the 11th annual Mountain Valley Bank Fall Festival will include the pies, salsas and jellies/jams auctioned off to the highest bidders. Events Saturday in downtown Meeker begin with a run at 9 a.m. and the Fall Festival beginning at 11 a.m. All  ages are invited to drop in and take part in the fun, which will last until 2 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by White River Electric Association and the ERBM Recreation and Park District. The Meeker Police Department drew roughly 150 people to Paintbrush Park on Aug. 5 for Meeker Night Out, which included a barbecue and a movie in honor of National Night Out, designed to bring families together for an evening and to cut down on crime activities for the night.

The band Finnders and Youngberg of Fort Collins filled the air downtown with high-quality bluegrass music during their concert on the county courthouse lawn. Several hundred people along with several of the OHV riders from out of town took in the music.

Free showing of “LEGO” movie on Friday

MEEKER I A free outdoor showing of “LEGO: The Movie” will take place Friday night in Meeker, sponsored by the Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District.

Scoggins earns three-peat finish in Run For Your Life 5K

Early on Fourth: Run for Your Life 5K walk/run will turn 36

MEEKER I For the past 35 years in the early morning hours of the Fourth of July, Meeker locals and visitors have gathered downtown to take part in a different kind of Independence Day parade: the Run for Your Life 5K walk/run. Last year the race featured 120 runners and more than 130 walkers.

Felix y los Gatos: Summer Concert Series

More than 200 spectators listened to Felix y Los Gatos on Friday evening on the lawn of the courthouse in Meeker. The band, from Albuquerque, N.M., played a wide variety of musical styles much to the delight of those in attendance. The concert was sponsored by the Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District in Meeker. There will be other concerts throughout the summer. The Friday concert had it all: children, adults, families, great sunshine, lot of grass to sit on and great music.

ERBM to participate in Guinness World Record: World’s Largest Swimming Lesson

Thousands of kids and adults at aquatic facilities around the world, including the ERBM aquatics center, will unite to be part of an effort to set a new Guinness World Record. The global record attempt for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson (WLSL), will take place at 8:30 a.m., June, 20, when everyone is invited to be a part of a world record setting team for free. Parents can learn more about the phenomenal event by visiting WLSL.org.

MEEKER I June 20, tens of thousands of kids and adults at aquatic facilities around the world will unite for the fifth year in a row to set a new Guinness World Record. The global record attempt for The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson (WLSL) will take place at the Meeker Recreation Center.
