The Meeker 4-H Sewing Club participated in a Community Pride Project last week at the Pioneers Hospital Home Health and HopeWest offices. The members cleaned up flower beds, pulled weeds and planted flowers. Cloverbuds…

At the January meeting of the 4-H Cloverbuds, the kids practiced the 4-H pledge and had a great time learning about cake decorating. The Cloverbuds Club is for kids ages 5-7 who would like to see what 4-H has to offer. The club’s next meeting will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rio Blanco County Fairgrounds in Meeker. The kids will have an opportunity to try their hand at leather crafts and enjoy a healthy snack. The public is invited. Pictured above are Holt Pelloni and Skylar Grimes.

In October, Meeker’s Macy Collins, 14, traveled to the Ak-Sar-Ben livestock show in Omaha, Neb., where she showed three lambs and gave a speech on “Grass Fed vs. Grain Fed Beef.”

Sold…

Anna Walsh, the daughter of Tom and Lisa Walsh of Meeker, sold her market heifer “Squirrel” at the 2014 Colorado State Fair Junior Livestock Sale. The Junior Livestock Sale is sponsored by Colorado Touchstone Energy Partners, of which White River Electric is a member.

Macy Collins places at National Shorthorn Show

Macy Collins of Meeker poses during the Louisville, Ky., judging with her heifer, AF Revival or “Viv,” at the Junior National Shorthorn Show and Conference. Collins competed against 450 others with Viv, who placed fourth in her class. Collins also placed in several other events.

MEEKER I Macy Collins of Meeker attended the Junior National Shorthorn Show and Conference in Louisville, Ky., the week of June 23-28, establishing quite a bit of success in several competitions.
