4-H IFYE ambassador in Meeker, seeks hosts

MEEKER I Last week, the CSU Extension Office in Meeker hosted Jennifer Johnston with the 4-H IFYE Program. IFYE, or International 4-H Youth Exchange, is an international exchange program where participants ages 19-30 visit a foreign country for three to six months, living and working with host families, gaining a unique perspective about other cultures.

4-H Swine Club elects new officers

MEEKER I The first meeting of the 4-H Swine Club was held Feb. 24, and the main business was to elect officers for the year.

4-H Sewing Club…

The Meeker 4-H Sewing Club participated in a Community Pride Project last week at the Pioneers Hospital Home Health and HopeWest offices. The members cleaned up flower beds, pulled weeds and planted flowers. Cloverbuds…

At the January meeting of the 4-H Cloverbuds, the kids practiced the 4-H pledge and had a great time learning about cake decorating. The Cloverbuds Club is for kids ages 5-7 who would like to see what 4-H has to offer. The club’s next meeting will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rio Blanco County Fairgrounds in Meeker. The kids will have an opportunity to try their hand at leather crafts and enjoy a healthy snack. The public is invited. Pictured above are Holt Pelloni and Skylar Grimes.

In October, Meeker’s Macy Collins, 14, traveled to the Ak-Sar-Ben livestock show in Omaha, Neb., where she showed three lambs and gave a speech on “Grass Fed vs. Grain Fed Beef.”

Anna Walsh, the daughter of Tom and Lisa Walsh of Meeker, sold her market heifer “Squirrel” at the 2014 Colorado State Fair Junior Livestock Sale. The Junior Livestock Sale is sponsored by Colorado Touchstone Energy Partners, of which White River Electric is a member.
