Cattledog Trials underway…
The inaugural five-day Meeker Classic National Cattledog Association Cattledog Trials began bright and early on Wednesday morning, and the first team to begin the scoring action was Steve Wight of Bancroft, Idaho, and his well-known partner Levi, seen above steering his three cows toward the No. 5 gate.

MEEKER I For 30 years, Meeker has opened its doors to the world for a week each September for the sheepdog trials and, during that time, the folks of Rio Blanco County and Meeker have built a rich tradition around the border collie’s unique ability to work and handle livestock.
Cattledog handlers can also learn from their canine partners
MEEKER I It’s all about the dogs—working border collies that is—in Meeker. From June 15-19, 140 of North America’s best working cattledogs will gather to match themselves against each other, 200 yearling cows and Meeker’s famous trial field as they compete for a national title.
