Meeker’s Nick Burri will play golf at Missouri Valley College

MEEKER I Nick Burri only played golf three years in high school, but his commitment to and passion for the game has earned him a scholarship to golf this fall at Missouri Valley College.

Rangely High School golfers open fall season

Making the Rangely High School varsity golf team for the first two tournaments of the season were Marshal Way, Nick Burri, Calvin Shepherd, Robert Dunker and Andrew Morton. Since Meeker does not have a golf team, Burri and Shepherd have joined the Rangely team.

RANGELY | School starts next week in Rangely, but the high school golf season has already begun and the Rangely varsity team will have already played in four tournaments before the first school bell rings.

RBC high school golf starts today

Calvin Shepherd, who will be a senior at Meeker High School, will play golf on Rangely’s high school team for a second year. Shepherd and his teammates opened the season today at Battlement Mesa.

RBC I The 2013-14 school year has not started yet, but high school golfers in Rio Blanco County started practice Monday and play in their first tournament today in Battlement Mesa. Practice for football, volleyball and cross county officially starts Monday.

The 2011 high school golf season has started and both Rio Blanco County high schools have teams and both already have tournament experience.

Meeker junior Trey Morris qualified for the state golf tournament for the second year in a row. The state tournament will be Monday and Tuesday at Eaton Country Club. Meeker golfers compete at Steamboat, Craig meets

Above: Meeker’s Trey Morris shot an 85 at regionals Tuesday at Montrose. He qualified for the state tournament at Eaton on Oct. 4 and 5. He was also named second-team all-conference this week. Morris placed first last Friday with a score of 80 at a three-team tournament at Rangely’s Cedar Ridges Golf Course. JJ Wyatt shot a 94, Hunter Fellows 101, Dalton Rholl 105, Adrian Shoyer 121, Ty Shepard 125 and John Mack Sheridan 133. The Cowboys had a team score of 276. Morris, Wyatt, Fellows and Rholl advanced to Tuesday’s regional. At left: Rangely finished second in its tournament with a team score of 332. The Panthers were led by Caleb Templeton, who shot his best score of the season, a 93.

MEEKER I At Haymaker Golf Course Sept. 8 in Steamboat, Meeker scores were: Trey Morris 78, Dalton Rholl 98, Hunter Fellows 100, JJ Wyatt 107 and Ty Shepard 146.

Meeker golfer second at Rifle

RBC | Meeker High School’s Trey Morris shot an 18-hole score of 74 to finish second Aug. 23 at Rifle Creek Golf Course. Cross-county rival Rangely Senior High was led by seniors Kacey Denny and Caleb Templeton with scores of 96.

Meeker golf team comes out swinging

MEEKER I School hadn’t started but the 2010 golf season for Meeker High School had. Coach Klark Kindler and his team opened the season in Grand Valley last week and improved their scores in Grand Junction Aug. 17.

Four golfers make up Meeker team, which opens season at Battlement
