Cowboy sprinters fastest in west; relays break school records

MEEKER I T.J. Shelton and Halle Ahrens were the fastest 2A sprinters on the Western Slope and they will now, along with 20 of their teammates, compete in the 2014 Colorado State Track and Field Championships, with all five divisions running, jumping and throwing in Jefferson County Stadium in Denver, starting today.

Girls win meet, relay sets school record

Cowboy senior Jeremy Musgrave cleared 6 feet in the high jump and triple jumped 40-9 in Kremmling. He will try to solidify his trip to the Colorado State Track and Field Championships in his first year out for the sport.

MEEKER I In the final meet of the regular season in Kremmling, the Meeker High School girls’ team won the Joe Shields Invitational in a field of 13 teams, and the 4×400-meter relay team broke a school record.

Cowboys do well in windy Craig meet

The Meeker High School boys’ and girls’ track teams traveled to Craig for the Clint Wells Invitational Track Meet on Friday and returned with mixed results.

Meeker girls rack up 197.5 points

Meeker senior Aly Ridings led her team to a first place finish with first place finishes of her own in the 100-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump in Rangely last Saturday. Meeker will compete in Craig on Friday.

MEEKER I The Meeker High School girls’ track team dominated the Panther Invitational track Meeker in Rangely with 197.5 points and the Meeker boys’ team finished second behind the host team.

Hughes, Shelton win events in Frank Woodburn meet

Basketball players jump right into track

MEEKER I One week earlier, teammates Aly Ridings and Sydney Hughes were helping their basketball team win a third-place trophy at state. This past Saturday, they were helping their team to a fifth-place finish in the Hotchkiss Invitational track meet.

MHS team earns first among 2A schools

Meeker sophomore Sebastian Clarke improved his long jump by more than a foot in Rifle last Friday and senior Kathryn Doll won the triple jump.

MEEKER I Warm temperatures and favorable winds led to a good day for the Meeker High School Track and Field Team last Saturday. It was one of the best showings in terms of overall team performance of the season for both the boys’ and the girls’ squads.
