Letter to the Editor: Proud of MHS students

Dear Editor: A week or so ago, I had the opportunity to attend the awards assembly at Meeker High School. I was more than impressed.

MHS and BMS concert Monday

MEEKER | Jeff Hemingson, the director of choral and instrumental music at Meeker High School and Barone Middle School, has announced that the combined spring choir and band concert will be held on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Meeker High School auditorium.


Raul Lopez, a senior at Meeker High School, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans next year after turning in an outstanding year playing for the MHS Cowboys. The MHS point guard led the Cowboys with most points scored and most assists, and he was named player of the year in the NW League. Lopez will also play in all-state games in June. MEEKER | Jeff Hemingson, the director of Choral and Instrumental Music at Meeker High School and Barone Middle School, announced Tuesday that the spring combined choir and band concert will be held May 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Meeker High School auditorium.

Testing fills last days for MHS students

MEEKER | Art students at Meeker High School will be holding their annual High School Art Show all next week in the Meeker Elementary School library, and the school art program is inviting the public to visit the show.

MDS winter concert shows off school bands; debut for new music director


MEEKER I Jeff Hemingson, the new music director for Barone Middle School and Meeker High School, made his debut at the winter music concert at the MHS auditorium on Dec. 17 with a performance of challenging and intriguing compositions.

Faith Patterson and Jacob Henderson, juniors at Meeker High School, were chosen to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) seminar in Denver this past summer.

RHS alum, former Meeker coach joins hall of fame

Turner played offensive guard on the team, which won the 1964 Liberty Bowl. The Army veteran also played in the Freedom Bowl and was also inducted into the Colorado High School Coaches Hall of Fame.

RBC I Rangely High School alum and former Meeker teacher/coach Bill Turner, along with his former University of Utah teammates, winners of the 1964 Liberty Bowl, were recently inducted into the university’s Hall of Fame.
