A passion for quilting pays off for patients

At left is one of 26 quilts made by the Rio Blanco Stitchers and presented to residents of the Walbridge Wing at Pioneers Medical Center. The Stitchers presented the quilts to the patients on July 14, and they also make quilts for those in hospice care.

MEEKER I On July 14, the Rio Blanco Stitchers met at the new Pioneers Medical Center to distribute quilts the members had made for the residents of the Walbridge Wing.

Meeker dedicates new hospital; PMC will open fully on Friday

Meeker Mason Chuck Mills laid the cornerstone right outside the front door of Pioneers Medical Center on Saturday afternoon. Before he sealed the stone, a time capsule containing contemporary and a few past keepsakes were placed behind the stone. Many of those present said it was the first time in their lives they had seen a cornerstone laid.

New Pioneers Medical Center slated for opening in June

The center features 30 private rooms each with a toilet and sink and air conditioning, whereas the existing Walbridge Wing has only 16 semi-private rooms.

MEEKER I Just a year ago, Pioneers Medical Center (PMC) broke ground on its new 89,000-square-foot healthcare facility east of Meeker. The new $47 million medical building will house a Level IV trauma emergency department, critical access hospital, rural health clinic, long-term skilled nursing facility and several supporting ancillary departments.
