Rangely VFW seeks to increase involvement

Veterans of Foreign Wars Colorado District Commander Mark Wick and State Surgeon Ed Aitken recently presented Rangely VFW Post No. 5261 Commander John “Hoot” Gibson and former commander Corky Powell Sr. with a certificate commemorating the post’s 50th year in existence.

RANGELY I At the turn of the 20th century, veterans of the Spanish-American War and the Philippine Insurrection formed local groups to garner resources and support for soldiers newly returned from combat.

Dedication of Rangely memorial for all county veterans set for Tuesday

Tuesday at 2 p.m. the sculpture “Sacrifice and Resolution” will be unveiled in a Hefley Park ceremony in Rangely, honoring all past and current members from Rio Blanco County who have ever served in the Armed Forces.

RANGELY I Hefley Park renovations are on schedule for a Veterans Day dedication Tuesday of Rangely’s “Sacrifice and Resolution” sculpture, Western Rio Blanco Metropolitan (WRBM) Executive Director Tim Webber said Monday.
