Panthers defeat Plateau Valley, DeBeque

RANGELY I The Panthers boys’ basketball team won two games last weekend, defeating the Plateau Valley Cowboys 43-34, then pounding DeBeque 61-32 at home Saturday last. The Panthers will play in Hayden this Friday and host the Soroco Rams this Saturday afternoon.

Panthers beat Mustangs

RANGELY I The Panthers found the competition tough last Friday in Baggs, Wyo., losing 50-60 to the Little Snake River Rattlers for a third time this season but came back and defeated the West Grand Mustangs 37-33 in Kremmling last Saturday, starting league play with a win.

RANGELY I Rangely senior Cory Evans hit a three-pointer with 2.7 seconds left to play on his home court, to give his team a one-point victory (28-27) over the Meeker Cowboys Tuesday last.

Panthers split home games vs. Wildcats, Rattlers

RANGELY I The Panthers boys’ basketball team defeated the North Park Wildcats 47-38 last Thursday in its first home game but then lost to the Little Snake River Rattlers 44-48 the following day. The Panthers will not play again until Jan. 11, 2013, a non-league game in Paonia.

Panthers defeat Eagles on road

RANGELY I The Panther basketball team needed to win in Paonia last Saturday in the final game of the regular season in order to host a district pigtail game Tuesday. Fortunately they won the game in Paonia but unfortunately they lost the pigtail game to the same team, ending their season in Rangely.

RANGELY I Panther senior Mason Fortunato hit two clutch free throws with less than three seconds to play to give his team a one point victory (63-62) over the Dragons Friday last in DeBeque.

RANGELY I The Panther boys’ basketball team earned two wins last weekend in front of hometown fans and will play one on the road Friday before returning home to Saturday for league contest. The Panthers beat Vail Mountain 66-51 Friday last then pounded North Park 59-31 Saturday.

RANGELY I The Panthers boys’ basketball team delighted its fans Friday last, defeating the Paonia Eagles 68-59. In Hayden Saturday, the Panthers lost 60-74. The Panthers will host Vail Mountain Friday and North Park Saturday.
