RANGELY I The Rangely High School volleyball team went won one and lost two matches over the weekend, beating Vail Mountain on Thursday before falling to Meeker and Hotchkiss on Friday and Saturday.

RHS volleyball splits matches

It wasn’t an easy battle, but the Rangely High School volleyball team defeated a stubborn Hotchkiss team Friday night on the road. The Panther girls needed all five games to claim the victory, winning the first, second and fifth games to capture the match. On Saturday, the girls fell to Paonia. This Friday, the RHS girls will host Plateau Valley then travel on Saturday to Hayden for two more matches.

Rangely volleyball team opens its season with big victories

RANGELY I The Rangely High School girls’ volleyball team began its season with a tournament in Aspen on Friday and Saturday, getting the season started with wins.

Although the Rangely High School volleyball team does not have a match scheduled until the end of August, the team started practice Monday, a week before the start of the school year.

RANGELY I The first bell signaling the start of the 2014 school year has yet to ring, but the Rangely High School golf team has already started practice and will open its season today in Grand Valley.

Three finish Rangely’s Glow Run with identical times

The second annual Rangely Glow Run was held Friday night, and the competition ended in a three-way tie at 25 minutes, 30 seconds. The winners were junior Chance Sheppard, junior Daniel Connor and fourth-grader Andrew Dorris. The run was the brainchild of RHS volleyball coach Jimmie Mergelman.

RBC I Nearly 100 people showed up for the second annual Glow Run in Rangely on Friday, raising money for the girls’ volleyball program at Rangely High School.


On Friday, Rangely High School played host to 13 volleyball teams in tournament play. The tournament gave coaches and players the opportunity to experience real-game situations and to see what each player’s strengths and/or weaknesses may be before regular season starts. Regular season practice begins Aug. 11.

RANGELY I The Rangely volleyball team will host Meeker on Friday night in a league rematch and then travel to Paonia to take on the current league leaders.

Lady Panthers drop two matches

RANGELY I The Rangely volleyball team played Vail Mountain and North Park over the weekend and came up short in both matches. Adding insult to injury was an injury to defensive specialist Simone Heinle Friday night.
