Rangely volleyball players, who qualified for the state tournement in Denver, were recognized at the team’s annual postseason banquet Monday night. Winners included: League MVP — Victoria Phelan. League Top Libero — Rozilynn Thacker. All-Conference — Marie Morton, Victoria Phelan and Rozilynn Thacker. Honorable Mention — Torie Slagle, Brittany Babineaux, Haeley Enterline and Quincey Thacker.

Lady Panthers advance to regional tournament at Palisade RANGELY I They haven’t reached their ultimate goal, but they are one step closer. The Lady Panthers won all three of their matches at last week’s district tournament, which they hosted.

RANGELY I Last year, despite finishing second in the league standings and second in the district tournament, the Lady Panther volleyball team didn’t qualify for regionals, based on how other teams finished.

Lady Panthers have eyes on league title RANGELY I Friday, the Lady Panthers will play their final regular-season volleyball match. But that doesn’t mean the season is over. Far from it. Rangely travels to Kremmling to play West Grand on Friday. The following week is the district tournament, followed by regionals and followed by state.

RANGELY I Playing a road game against a league opponent can sometimes be a recipe for disaster. Or not. “We played great,” Rangely volleyball coach Jimmie Mergelman said about last Friday’s three-set win at Hayden. “We played the best we’ve played yet.”

RANGELY I The Lady Panthers don’t rattle easily. “We’ve been down a couple three or four times and found a way to come back,” said Rangely volleyball coach Jimmie Mergelman. That’s what experience can do for you.

RANGELY I What a difference a day makes. The Lady Panthers played perhaps their best match of the season last Friday against Vail Mountain. The next day, against Plateau Valley, they didn’t play nearly as well. However, the outcomes were the same. Rangely won both matches in three games.

RANGELY I The Lady Panthers are on a roll. That was certainly the case Saturday, when in game one of a Western Slope League volleyball match against North Park, Mikayla Schoenfeld reeled off 14 straight points. In game two, she served 11 straight points.
