With only two team practices at the beginning of the season, the Rio Blanco American Legion girls’ 14-and under fast pitch softball team finished the regular season with a 13-3 record and won three games and the district tournament in Grand Junction, advancing to the Colorado state championship game. The team consists of four girls from Meeker, four from Rangely, one from Rifle, one from New Castle and one from Parachute. Playing in Aurora Friday in the double elimination state finals are in front; Vanessa Hamilton (Rangely), Sierra Williams (Meeker), Destiny Bulger (Parachute), Maria Gonzales (Meeker), Sedona Kellogg (New Castle), Taylor Dodds (Meeker), Jessyca Gates (Rifle), Sidney Shaffer (Rangely) and Katelyn and Kassidee Brown of Rangely.
