Volleyball teams battle in Rangely

MEEKER I The middle school volleyball teams from Meeker and Rangely played in Rangely Saturday for exciting matches.

Volleyball teams spike tournament

The Rangely Middle School eighth-grade volleyball teams swept the annual league tournament held in Craig last Saturday, winning both the A and B brackets. The A-team, coached by Jimmie Mergelman and Tina Miller (on each end) included Kayte Allred, Carrie Goddard, Justyene Dembowski, Courtney Bell, Lindzey Thacker, Alexi Cordrey and Antoinette Dorris. Playing on the championship B-team were; Christina Gliem, Alycia Dominguez, Courtney Bell, Braylee Casavaugh, Bridget Mays, Adriana Lopez, Casey Meeks, Savanah Neilsen and Alexsis Lopez, with coach Miller in the back.

RANGELY I The Middle School Volleyball Tournament held in Craig last Saturday finished off the season for the four area schools. This year, Rangely proved to have the best combination of teams, winning the eighth grade A and B tournaments and placing second in the seventh grade A. Meeker won the seventh grade B tournament.

If experience is a luxury, then the Lady Panthers’ volleyball team is really sitting pretty. Out of the 30 girls on the Rangely Senior High volleyball team, which includes the junior varsity and C team, almost half of them are seniors.

The Lady Cowboy volleyball team will open the varsity season in Glenwood Springs this weekend. “We play up in Glenwood, there are mostly 3-4 and 5A schools,” coach Christy Atwood said of the upcoming competition for her 2A varsity team. “We’ll use it as a measuring stick to see where we are competing.”

All-league volleyball team announced

BMS football, volleyball teams are winners

RBC | Both Barone Middle School football teams won big last week, with the A team winning 50-6 and the B team 46-0. Meanwhile, the Rangely seventh- and eighth-graders combined for a 27-6 win over Vernal, Utah.

MEEKER I Playing a team a second time can be a challenge. Playing a team for the second time in less than a week can be even tougher. Meeker’s volleyball team managed to do it, though, beating Aspen at home last Thursday (26-24, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21) after having defeated Aspen on Sept. 5.
