Agencies working for countywide trail plan
RBC I Dozens of people attended the public meetings in Rangely and Meeker last week to discuss a master trails plan for Rio Blanco County. The plan, once carried out, would give residents and visitors access to approximately 1,000 miles of trails for motorized and non-motorized use county-wide.
Big prescribed burn planned north in county
MEEKER I The Blanco Ranger District of the White River National Forest plans to conduct a prescribed burn in the Aldrich Lakes area sometime in late September or early October.
Spring Cave, others closed until April for area bat protection
RBC I As of Aug. 1, all caves on the White River National Forest have been managed under new direction. An adaptive management plan was developed to reduce the potential spread of white-nose syndrome in bats, while providing reasonable access to the caving community.
Wilson Park set for road work

Provencio named new deputy forest supervisor
RBC I Heather Provencio has been selected as the new deputy forest supervisor of the White River National Forest. Provencio is currently the district ranger in the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest in Sedona, Ariz.
