RBC — Overall, the three entities in Rio Blanco County — the towns of Meeker and Rangely, and the county itself — reported an increase in sales and use tax revenue of 55.8 percent for April 2008, with reported revenue growth from $698,116 last year to $1,088,183 this year.
The town of Rangely experienced the most dramatic increase over last year, jumping 85.4 percent, from $74,387 to $137,886. The town of Meeker reported an increase of 24.6 percent, climbing from $99,881 in 2007, to $124,454 in 2008. The county’s reported numbers were up 57.6 percent from $523,848 to $825,843.
Sales and use tax receipts include collected taxes for retail sales, motor vehicle use taxes and building materials use taxes. Rio Blanco County Sales and Use Tax Administrator Debbie Morlan said these numbers are unaudited and subject to change.
