RBC I Sales and use tax numbers for the first quarter of 2011 are in. Sales and use tax receipts include collected taxes for retail sales, motor vehicle use tax and building materials use tax. These numbers are unaudited and subject to change.
Rio Blanco County and the town of Meeker were down in comparison to the same period in 2010, while the town of Rangely reported an increase.
The county reported a 16.5 percent decrease, from $1,100,859 in 2010 to $919,377 for the first quarter of 2011.
The town of Meeker’s sales and use tax distribution for January-March 2011 was 30 percent below the 2010 numbers. In 2010, the town of Meeker reported $267,840. For the same period in 2011: $186,580.
The town of Rangely reported $201,841 in the first quarter of 2010 and a 7.12 percent increase in 2011, to $216,203.
The combined total for the three entities was $1,570,540, a 15.8 percent decrease from the first quarter of 2010.
