RBC I Sales and use tax revenue decreased in March and April for both towns compared to the same period last year. The county’s revenue was lower in March than last year but slightly higher in April.
In March, the combined reported revenue for all three county entities was $730,215, a 5 percent decrease from last year’s reported $767,931.
Of that, the county’s share was $499,485, down 6.5 percent from March 2008. The town of Meeker reported a 2 percent reduction, from $112,343 to $110,225. Rangely also had a 2 percent decrease, from $123,400 to $120,505 in March 2009.
In April, the county reported a 19.9 percent increase in sales and use tax revenue with a total of $990,095.
The town of Rangely had the biggest reported drop, from $137,886 to $94,550, a 31 percent decrease. The town of Meeker’s sales and use tax revenue also decreased in April, from $124,454 in 2008, to $103,952 in 2009, a 16 percent reduction.
All three tax entities reported a combined total of $1,088,183 in sales and use tax revenue for April 2008, and $1,188,597 for April 1009, a 9 percent increase.
Sales and use tax receipts include collected taxes for retail sales, motor vehicle use tax and building materials use tax. Rio Blanco County Sales and Use Tax Administrator Debbie Morlan said these numbers are unaudited and subject to change.
