Battle Mountain High School played host to a weekend full of personal records for the Rangely High School Panthers track and field team.
Connor Phelan had his best long jump of the year at a distance of 17-10. The men’s 4×400 team — Colton Coombs, DJ Jamerson, William Scoggins and Connor Phelan — also ran well, taking three seconds off their best time and moving closer into a state ranked position with a time of 3:50.95.
DJ Jamerson also had a strong individual weekend with a PR in both the 100-meter dash (12.12 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (24.63 seconds). Colton Coombs continues to decrease his 200 dash time as well with a PR this weekend of 23.72 seconds.
Aimee Hogan smashed her best 1600-meter run time by three seconds with a time of 5:57.10 seconds, which also moved her closer into a state qualifying position. Leslie Hernandez, our only dual sport athlete, also did well with a PR in the 100 dash at 15.54 seconds.
Finally, we had a great showing from several throwers as Andrew Morton PR’d in the discus by almost 10 feet with a throw of 113 feet and Holly Lepro PR’d in both shot and discus with distances of 35-10 and 111-11 respectively. All of Rangely’s athletes seem to be peaking at just the right time as they head to Grand Junction this weekend for regionals at Stoker Stadium.
