Team wrestling camp…

Eight Meeker High School Cowboy wrestlers recently attended the Western State Team Camp in Gunnison and wrestled in 17 duals, winning 13 of them. “Our kids wrestled tough,” Meeker assistant coach Carl Padilla said. Wrestling for the Cowboys in back row were: Chase Rule, Christopher Strate, Charles Curry, assistant coach Carl Padilla, Sheridan Harvey, head coach J.C. Watt, Caleb Bradford and Casey Turner. Incoming freshmen Ridge Williams and Keston Hobbs, (two on the right in the front row) also attended, while four wrestlers (Bryon Fierro of Ridgeview, Jason Hanenburg of Air Academy, Hunter Popkey of Buhler, Kan., and Deron Solomon, also of Ridgeview High School), were added to Meeker’s team. Coach Padilla said Harvey and Turner wrestled in the all-star dual, where Turner remained undefeated and he was named the camp’s Outstanding Wrestler. “He’s an animal and I’m glad he wrestles for us,” Coach Padilla said of Turner, who will return for his senior year to defend his state wrestling title.
