Ann Franklin with Lucy (2 1/2-year-old Golden Doodle), Arlene Estes with Deuce (3-year-old Border Collie) and Toby Smith with Max (3 1/2-year old Standard Poodle). All three dogs successfully passed their Canine Good Citizen tests, a regional test through Therapy Dogs International, qualifying them as certified therapy dogs. The certification allows the owners to accompany their dogs during pet therapy visits to hospitals, nursing homes and shut-ins. There are also guidelines for pet therapy in elementary schools and public libraries, to help with children’s reading programs. Ann, Arlene and Toby are currently leaders for the Rio Blanco County Dog 4-H Club. Arlene and Toby enjoy dedicating their spare time as instructors through Total Teamwork Training. It is always fun and challenging for this trio to interact with owners and dogs at all levels.
