Representative Scott Tipton stopped in Meeker Tuesday at Ma Famiglia on a tour of his district. Tipton spoke of the national budget and said he was preparing legislation to return a share of royalties from drilling on the federal oil shale reserves on the Roan Plateau to impacted Rio Blanco, Garfield, Moffat and Mesa counties, after completion of cleanup of the Anvil Points oil shale research facility. The exact amount in the account is not known but it could mean millions of dollars to Rio Blanco County.
