MEEKER I There were greater rewards this year for hog exhibitors at the Colorado State Fair. The Showmaster Showdown, a competition that awarded the top youth hog exhibitor with a $1,000 college savings bond, 100 pounds of Showmaster feed and an embroidered camp chair. Eighty youth competed in the first annual Showdown held Aug. 27. Trey Morris of Meeker walked away with the top honors, first winning the crossbred class and then grand champion. The event was separate from the market and showmanship classes of the state fair and was not held in conjunction with the junior livestock sale.
