RANGELY I Rangely freshman Phalon Osborn and junior Savannah Neilson will travel to Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Nationals in Atlanta, Ga., this week following their qualification at the state event in Vail in April.
Osborn is the first freshman to qualify for the national competition in more than 17 years and this is also Nielson’s first trip to the nationals.
Osborn qualified in client services while Nielson is going as a voting delegate. They will have left on Wednesday and will return on Sunday, the last day of the competition.
Because of her participation in the Atlanta nationals, Osborn, who is also the Range Call rodeo queen, will miss out on preliminary events in Meeker this Friday through Sunday. She should be back in time for Monday’s events in Meeker.
Although it was a difficult decision for her, Osborn felt the competition in Atlanta was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity she could not pass up.
The competitors will each take one parent as a chaperone. Nielson and Osborn are very excited and looking forward to competing and seeing what Atlanta has to offer.
