First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers are with the family from Rangely who suffered a tragic loss last week.

There are many events to bring people together in the shortest (but sometimes longest) month of the year.
The Meeker Chamber of Commerce will host its annual dinner this Friday featuring the Meeker Show Choir and comedian hypnotist Chris Mabrey as entertainment. The Rangely Chamber of Commerce will bring 300 people together Feb. 11, to enjoy the annual Crab Crack fundraiser. Annual awards winners will be acknowledged at both functions.
The Rangely Animal Shelter invites everyone to the “Cosmetics for Critters” fundraiser Feb. 11 at 2 p.m., at town hall. The ERBM Recreation and Parks District in Meeker is inviting adults to dinner and a comedy show featuring Kevin Fitzgerald at the Fairfield Center the same day. Fitzgerald is a veterinarian and had a show on the Animal Planet channel.
The Rangely Elks Lodge will host a Sweetheart Dance Feb. 10 and the Meeker VFW Ladies Auxiliary will host a spaghetti dinner on Valentine’s Day at the Meeker Golf Course Feb. 14.
The first annual “I Ride with James” snowmobile poker and fun ride will be held Feb. 19, starting at the Lost Creek trailhead, with all-you-can-eat chili, burgers and hot dogs after the ride.
