RANGELY | Rangely’s young Panthers started their season in Fruita this past weekend in a big dual team tournament. The Panthers wrestled Fruita A, West Redlands A, Mt. Garfield and Nucla. They didn’t win any duals due to giving up so many forfeits. In head to head matches they competed very well. Rangely had two undefeated wrestlers: Zane Varner at 140 lbs. and Dontea Pearce at 145 lbs. Other wrestlers competing and wrestling well were Curtis Reeves at 80 lbs., Anthony Dorris at 85 lbs., Kobey Chism at 90 lbs., Braxton Moore at 95 lbs., Jaxon Torsell at 105 lbs., Kasen LeBleu at 120 lbs., Chase Dowlen at 125 lbs., Brent Cantrell and Wyatt Wiley both at 155 lbs.
“I was pleased with most of their efforts on Saturday. These young kids work very hard in practice, we just need to get their confidence up. We have two more hard duals today in Meeker, we will wrestle Craig in the first dual, then we will dual Meeker,” said coach Jeff LeBleu. “The Panthers will travel to West Grand on Saturday. A special thanks to the Varner family for supplying the fruit trays this week, and thank you for all the parents and friends who traveled and supported the team.”
