Water poured over Taylor Draw Dam at Kenney Reservoir last Thursday at between 3,000-3,100 cubic feet per second. Significant debris, including whole cottonwood trees, were washed into the reservoir with a combination of heavy rain and runoff last weekend. Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District Manager Alden Vanden Brink said they’ll wait to see what “settles out” of the debris and clear the rest, and will need to hire divers to go in and check the dam. Last weekend’s weather affected fishing for a couple days, but Vanden Brink expects everything to be back to normal in time for the Jackpot Fishing Derby this Saturday, hosted by the Gone Fishing 4-H Club. The Derby starts at 7:30 a.m. and will raise funds for the 4-H club.
