The following information is a weekly review of the calls for service reported to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Communications Office. If you have any questions please call 878-9600. We will not regularly post any information as to the names or addresses on any incident. This last week the dispatch center received a total of 551 incoming and placed 138 outgoing phone calls, received 33 911 calls, one 911 hangup and 46 calls for Meeker PD. These calls resulted in 138 calls for service, 68 for the Sheriff’s Office, 58 for Meeker PD, eight calls for Meeker Fire and Rescue, seven for the Colorado State Patrol and two for other agencies. (Please note the department breakdown of calls reflects a different number because of incidents with multiple agency response). The Sheriff’s Office conducted 19 traffic stops issuing four citations and 15 warnings, while the Meeker PD had eight stops resulting in seven warnings and one citation. Agency assists totaled 24, 12 for the Sheriff’s Office and 12 for MPD. Other calls for the Sheriff’s Deputies included six animal calls, four citizen assists, three motorist assists, two traffic accidents, five suspicious incidents and one VIN inspection Meeker Police Department calls included four animal calls, eight business checks, one domestic violence call, two juvenile issues, one motorist assists, one citizen assists, three suspicious incidents and five vin inspections. A house fire was reported Thursday morning on Water Street. No one was at home at the time when the fire started on the lower level of the two story residence. There was one arrest and the Detention Center currently has 13 inmates. Assists to the Colorado State Patrol were six with one injury accident reported. A semi on County Road 5 went off the roadway and struck a power pole. The driver was transported to Pioneers Medical Center with minor injuries. No DUI arrests were made.

RBC I Rio Blanco County Sheriff Si Woodruff announced Monday that the County Sheriffs of Colorado (CSOC) will award a $5,000 scholarship to a deserving Rio Blanco County student this spring.
