The following information is a weekly review of the calls for service that were reported to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Communications Office. If you have any questions or would like an explanation of the call types listed please call 878-9600. We will not regularly post any information as to the names or addresses on any incident.
From the start of the month the dispatch center received a total of 494 incoming and placed 151 outgoing phone calls, receiving 25 9-1-1 calls and one abandoned 911 call. These calls resulted in 173 calls for service, 116 for the Sheriff’s Office, 55 for Meeker PD, three ambulance calls for Meeker Fire and Rescue, five for the Colorado State Patrol and four for other agencies. (Please note the department breakdown of calls reflects a different number because of incidents with multiple agency response).
The Sheriff’s office conducted 45 traffic stops issuing nine citations and 36 warnings and one arrest for no valid driver’s license, while the Meeker PD had seven stops resulting in two citations and five warnings. Agency assists totaled 28, 17 for the Sheriff’s Office (four each for both RPD & MPD). An individual from a motorcycle accident outside of Rangely walked into Rangely District Hospital with minor injuries. A resident on County Road 102 reported the theft of her washer and dryer, the investigation is continuing.
Assists to the Colorado State Patrol were five with no injury accidents reported. One unlucky driver struck two elk at the bottom of 9 Mile Hill, his vehicle was considered a total loss. Two vehicles and a horse trailer were damaged when a semi hauling asphalt lost part of the load causing the car to crash into a truck and trailer. The company returned to clean up the spills.
Other calls for the Sheriff’s Deputies included 14 animal calls, three citizen assists, seven motorist assists. three traffic accidents, two traffic hazards and one warrant arrest among the calls.
Meeker Police Department calls included one possible child abuse call, one arrest on a restraining order violation, six animal calls, eight business checks, one domestic violence, three juvenile issues, four motorist assists, seven suspicious incidents and three VIN inspections.
No DUI arrests were made.
