What is Meeker Moving Forward?

MEEKER | For many of us, Meeker is home and we care deeply about our town and the future of our community. Colorado is becoming an increasingly desirable place to live. As Colorado continues to grow, communities across the state are facing increasing demands, shifting demographics and are feeling the influence of new economic trends. In order to maintain what we love about living here, we, as a community, need to come together and work proactively to respond to the change and growth that Meeker may face over the next 10-15 years. That is what Meeker Moving Forward is all about.

Meeker Moving Forward (www.meekermovingforward.com) is an initiative of the town that began this past July (2019) and is anticipated to wrap up in early 2021. Meeker Moving Forward is focused on bringing all facets of the community together in order to develop a shared vision and goals for Meeker, as well as to identify specific steps to be taken to achieve that future. The success of Meeker Moving Forward is contingent upon all members of the community getting involved and helping shape the future of the town.

Ultimately, Meeker Moving Forward will result in an updated Community Master Plan (i.e. a Comprehensive Plan) for Meeker that:

Sets forth the community’s shared vision and goals for Meeker.

Provides recommendations for achieving that vision and those goals.

Includes an action plan for getting things done.

Once the update to the Community Master Plan has been completed, the town’s zoning and development regulations will be updated to ensure that those are aligned with the community’s vision and goals for Meeker. To learn more about the project please visit: www.meekermovingforward.com

For those that want to get involved with Meeker Moving Forward and share their input, there are a number of opportunities to do so:

Paper copies of the survey have been delivered in the mail. If for some reason you did not receive a survey in the mail, you can pick one up at Meeker Town Hall (345 Market Street) OR at the Meeker Recreation Center (101 Ute Road ). If you’d prefer to fill out the survey online, you can do so by going to: www.meekersurvey.org/open

Meeker Moving Forward Website. The Meeker Moving Forward website (www.meekermovingforward.com) offers a number of ways for you to share your input including an interactive input map, an idea wall and short questionnaires/polls.
