RBC I Well-known Hayden small-businesswoman Jean White, who was appointed just shy of a year ago to fill a vacancy in State Senate District 8, has enjoyed cutting spending and forcing the state to live within its means so much, she is seeking a full term as State Senator for State Senate District 8.
Since her appointment, White has worked tirelessly for Northwestern Colorado, traveling the district meeting constituents, visiting colleges, nursing homes, hospitals, coal mines and power plants, and airports. Having been a small business owner, White understands how government regulations can place an unfair burden on small business.
In her campaign for Senate District 8, White intends to stress the need for less government, fewer regulations, and an improved environment for job creation. In addition to supporting all aspects of tourism, White will focus on the economic benefits of oil, gas, and coal production, the importance of a quality education for our children, and the need for access to affordable broadband in all of Northwest Colorado.
The newly redrawn Senate District 8 encompasses the following counties; Garfield, Grand, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco, Routt and Summit counties. According to the 2011 Colorado Reapportionment Commission Senate District 8 has a population of 144,590 residents. Amongst voters in the District, Republicans make up approximately 38 percent of the district, while unaffiliated voters account for 35 percent and Democrats make up roughly 26 percent of the District.
Jean White has lived in Northwest Colorado for 37 years, has been to married to her husband Al for 32 years. They have two children, son Devin, 31, of Winter Park and daughter Jenna, 26, of Denver.
