RBC — On Feb. 21, the White River Snowmobile Club hosted a group ride over and around Sand Peak.
Ron Hilkey led five “Road Warriors” up Ripple Creek Pass, then cross country into “Big Hole.” Nathan and Suzan Pelloni, along with Troy Hilkey, led 26 riders of the “Wild Bunch” via Lost Park.
The ride presented challenges to the skilled riders, while even the most novice riders enjoyed the Ripple Creek Pass run. Upon the group’s return to the Lost Creek Trail head parking lot, riders were treated to hot chili and soup, provided by Stan and Patty Wyatt, along with Troy Osborn.
Longtime snowmobile club member Ron Hilkey groomed the Ripple Creek Pass trail the day prior. Grooming of trails around the Meeker area are made possible by memberships received by the White River Snowmobile Club and the Colorado Snowmobile Association.
Membership not only helps to maintain local trails, but also gives us a voice at the legislative level to keep these public areas open to enjoy.
