Roughly 60 members of the Rio Blanco County Woolgrowers Assocation gathered for their annual meeting on Friday in Meeker, and a wide variety of speakers addressed topics such as sheep protection dogs, sage grouse, water, the number of grazing units, declining wool prices and wild horses. The group met at Kilowatt Korner as speakers from mostly federal agencies presented updates on several issues relevant to raising sheep in the area and how the various agencies will be dealing with sheep producers in the near future. One of the first to speak was Callie Hendrickson, above, the executive director of the White River and Douglas Creek conservation districts. At the table are Woolgrowers’ Secretary/Treasurer Connie Theos and Woolgrowers’ President Butch Theos.

On April 4, the Meeker Lions Club installed new shelving units for the New Eden Pregnancy Care Center. New Eden asked the Lion’s Club to help them come up with more storage for items within the building, and the Lion’s Club raised money to purchase shelves. OPAL MUNGER PHOTO
