MEEKER I Rio Blanco County residents are invited to learn about small-power hydropower for agriculture at a free workshop on June 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Meeker Library.
The goal, organizers say, is to provide information and discussion of the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s hydropower incentive program. The agenda includes 20-minute presentations by the guest speakers with the balance of the meeting devoted to discussion as well as questions and answers.
Guest speakers include: Sam Anderson, an energy specialist with the Colorado Department of Agriculture; Dan Eddy of the Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District in Rangely; Scott Grosscup of the Yellow Jacket Water Conservancy District in Glenwood Springs; and Dan Birch, the deputy general manager of the Colorado River District.
The district is the principal water policy and planning agency for the Colorado River Basin within the state of Colorado, providing legal, technical and political representation regarding the Colorado River.
The district is comprised of 15 Western Slope counties, including Rio Blanco, Moffat, Routt, Grand, Summit, Eagle, Pitkin, Gunnison, Delta, Mesa, Garfield, Ouray counties and portions of Montrose, Saguache and Hinsdale counties.
