MEEKER I White River Electric Association has announced an average of a 3 percent electric rate reduction for 2015.
The successful resolution of the WREA wholesale rate complaint case, along with a strong financial foundation, resulted in the board’s ability to reduce rates for all rate classes. This is the first rate decrease for WREA in more than 10 years.
WREA General Manager Alan Michalewicz commented, “Rate reductions are almost unheard of in today’s utility industry. White River Electric worked hard to resolve the underlying rate complaint case and pushed to maximize financial opportunities so that we could responsibly reduce rates for our consumers.”
WREA consumers received formal notice of the 2015 Rate Schedule in this week’s mail. A full listing of the WREA 2015 Rate Schedule and other information may also be found at wrea.org.
The WREA board remains focused on supplying safe, reliable power at reasonable rates to its member consumers.
“We can’t prevent future wholesale rate increases, but when it is financially prudent, it is our responsibility to reduce rates for our member consumers.” Michalewicz said. “White River Electric hopes that the rate decrease will help start the new year off right for our local businesses and all of our member consumers.”
