WREA golf tourney is June 19; Meeker’s annual Two-Man Best Ball June 20-21

MEEKER I There will be two different tournaments for golfers of all levels the weekend of June 19-21 in Meeker.

A flat-screen TV and cash prizes will be up for grabs as the White River Electric Association hosts its 31st annual White River Golf Tournament on June 19. Registration includes Thursday’s dinner and Friday’s cart and green fees, range balls and a sack lunch.
On Saturday and Sunday is Meeker Golf Course’s annual Two-Man Best Ball tournament on June 20 and 21.
Friday’s format at the WREA tournament will be a four-person scramble. The entry fee is $65 per person, which includes Thursday’s dinner and all the tournament extras listed above.
All proceeds from that tournament will be donated to purchase new Chromebooks for Meeker Elementary School.
The schedule for Thursday is: 6 p.m. for registration, team introductions and a cash bar; 7 p.m. for dinner/team calcutta; and the drawing for the flatscreen TV, which was donated by Tri-State Generation and Transmission. Winner must be present to win.
The schedule for Friday is: 8 a.m. for skins/captains meeting; and 9 a.m. will be the shotgun start. Breakfast burritos, coffee and cinnamon rolls will be for sale on Friday.
The public is also being asked to help sponsor holes ($200 each) and the club house ($150 each). Those who wish to be sponsors are asked to contact Trina at 970-878-5041; by FAX at 970-878-5766; or by email at [email protected].
Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. No entries will be held without payment. Co-ed teams will be assigned and balanced by handicap. For out-of-town guests, please contact the Meeker Chamber of Commerce.
Mountain Valley Bank is again a tournament co-sponsor and Meeker’s Northwest Auto is back as the Hole-In-One sponsor.
“Last year’s tournament was a huge success and lots of fun,” WREA’s Trina Zagar-Brown said. ”Our success was all thanks to those who participated and our generous sponsors. WREA appreciates all that you do to help make this a great community and a successful cooperative association.”
