MEEKER I The board of directors of White River Electric Association, Inc., is pleased to announce the hiring of Alan Michalewicz as its new general manager, effective Aug. 1.
WREA’s current general manager, Dick Welle, will retire this fall after 38 years of service at White River Electric. Welle has served as general manager for 13 years and is retiring to enjoy more time hunting, fishing and with his granddaughters.
“White River Electric has been a huge part of my life and I will miss it,” Welle said. “But I know that Alan, along with the board and the existing management team will do a great job in taking this company into the future.”
The board began the search process earlier this spring and was impressed with the high caliber of applications received. The board believes Michalewicz’s unique skill set and experience will serve White River Electric and its future well.
Most recently, Michalewicz has been with Black Hills Electric Cooperative as vice president of operations and engineering based out of Custer, S.D. He is a registered professional engineer with several years of upper management experience.
Michalewicz and his family will move from Rapid City, S.D., and they look forward to getting situated in Meeker later this summer.
