MEEKER | The annual Youth Fishing Day is this Saturday, June 9 at its new location, Lake Avery. This event is free and open to all youth 18 years and under, no pre-registration is required.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) in partnership with the ERBM Recreation and Park District have been co-hosting this event to engage youth in outdoor and recreational activities. The CPW youth outreach programs include, but are not limited to, family fishing events such as the Lake Avery event. Bailey Franklin, district wildlife manager with CPW, encourages participation in youth events as it “connects people to Colorado’s outdoors and provides recreational opportunities that inspire youth to become active stewards of our treasured natural resources. CPW could not offer these types of high quality outdoor activities without support from key sponsors such as ERBM, Wyatt’s Sports Center, WREA, Lion’s Club, and many others.”
The event kicks-off at 9 a.m. and concludes at 11 a.m., immediately followed by a free lunch provided by the Meeker Lions Club until 12:30 p.m. Youth age 16 years or older must have a valid Colorado Fishing License in order to participate; information on licenses can be found by visiting Colorado Parks and Wildlife online. For any questions on the Youth Fishing Day please contact Brandon Grasmick with ERBM at 970-878-7427.
