RBC — The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) has a couple of openings remaining for a cow elk youth hunt on private land in the Meeker area on Dec. 6 and 7.
To apply for the hunt, youth must be between the ages of 12 and 18, must have a valid hunter safety card and must not have previously participated in a DOW youth big game hunt.
n A parent or guardian must be willing to accompany the youth on the actual hunt. Participants must provide their own firearm, equipment, lodging, meals and transportation.
Guides and access to the land are provided by a private landowner in cooperation with the DOW.
n To apply, youth hunters should send an e-mail to Kathleen Tadvick, DOW Education Coordinator at [email protected].
Submissions should include the youth’s name, address, date of birth, hunter safety
card number, parent’s name, daytime and evening phone numbers and how many big game animals the youth has harvested in the past.
Applicants should include a few sentences about why they enjoy hunting and want to participate in this opportunity.
Application deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28. Young people selected to participate in the hunt will be notified on Monday, Dec. 1.
The hunt will take place on Saturday and Sunday Dec. 6 and 7.
