Mistakes plague Panthers
RANGELY — Special team turnovers proved to be the undoing of the Panthers during the weekend. The Altamont Longhorns took advantage of a poor snap and a blocked punt to defeat the Panthers 25-12.

Weather helps stop Jordan Fire
MEEKER — Rain, clouds, lower temperatures and higher humidity over the Jordan Fire has effectively stopped fire spread as of Aug. 31. The fire is located seven miles northwest of Meeker in the Windy Gulch Wilderness Study Area.
Oak Ridge prescribed burn planned near Meeker in Sept.
MEEKER — The Bureau of Land Management and Colorado Division of Wildlife are planning a 766-acre prescribed burn to improve wildlife habitat in the Oak Ridge State Wildlife Area near Meeker this month.
