Rangely

2nd Holidayfest is Saturday in Rangely

RANGELY — The second annual Rangely Chamber of Commerce Holidayfest will be held Saturday, Dec. 6. This year’s Holidayfest theme is “An Old Fashion Christmas” and will feature several events for the community.
A Christmas parade will be held on Main Street at 1:30 p.m. We are actively seeking people who would like to have an entry in the parade. There will be prizes awarded for first ($100), second ($75) and third ($50) place entries into the parade. Further, we are inviting people to dress up their pets or animals for the holidays and enter them into the parade. Pet prizes will be awarded for first and second places ($50 each).
After the parade, the events move to Parkview Elementary. Santa Claus will be at Parkview to visit with children from 3-5 p.m. Children may sit on Santa’s lap to reveal their Christmas wish list as well as have their picture made with him (one free picture per child). Further, there will be several activities for children to enjoy: Cookie decorating, coloring, fish pond and a cupcake walk. The Rangely 4-H Club will also be offering a chili dinner fund raiser at the school during this time.
Next, we will move to the plaza in front of town hall for a live nativity scene/Christmas story from 5:30-6:30 p.m. which includes performances by the CNCC Chorale. We are still seeking teenagers or adults to play the roles of Mary, Joseph, a shepherd, an angel and three wise men. These are non-speaking parts and costumes are provided. Please contact the chamber (information below) if you are interested in participating.
To top off our community celebration, there will a tree lighting ceremony at 6:45 p.m. to welcome the season. We will sing Christmas carols. Hot cocoa, coffee and snacks will be offered for sale during this event.
During all of these events, we will offer a chance for you to win one of 20 turkeys. Tickets will be sold ($1 each). All proceeds will be donated to the Rangely Food Bank.
Further, local businesses will stay open for a “mystery shopping” event. Participants will visit Rangely businesses looking for a mystery item. Upon finding the item, participants have the store stamp a card. Completed cards are then dropped in a box at the participating businesses. Cards will be drawn for prizes donated by local businesses.
We are also offering the Light-Up Rangely contest. Enter the contest by decorating your home for the season. Entry forms may be obtained at [email protected]. Prizes will be awarded for first ($100), second ($75) and third place ($50) homes. The deadline for entry is Dec. 12.
To gain more information about any of the events, please contact the Rangely Chamber of Commerce at (970)675-5290 or [email protected].
Please join us for a wonderful day of excitement and fun as we celebrate the holidays together.
