Board to decide on site for possible new school

MEEKER — The Meeker School District is moving forward with its planning process for a bond issue that will be presented to the voters this November.
The school board is in the course of deciding which site would be the most appropriate for a potential new elementary school. To accomplish this, a series of public meetings has been scheduled in June.
A public work session will take place June 10 at 7 p.m. in the gym at the administration building. Neenan Company, the architecture and construction firm with whom the district is working, will bring information about how much the various issues (i.e., excavation, utilities, etc.) will cost at each of the sites that are being considered for the school.
This is designed to be a public discussion and all interested parties are encouraged to participate. The second meeting is a regular school board meeting at 7 p.m. June 17 at the administration building. One of the agenda items at this meeting will be the board making a decision on which site they will select for the possible new school.
Finally, there will be another Cooperative Design Process (CDP) meeting similar to the one that was held April 30. This meeting will be take place June 24 from 2-9 p.m. with the purpose of developing the initial plans for the new school. This meeting will also be held in the administration building’s gymnasium.
All interested citizens are highly encouraged to attend this meeting, in its entirety, if at all possible. If being at the entire meeting is not possible, whatever time you could give to the process would be valuable to both the school district and to you. To have such a high level of input into the design of what could be our new school is a unique experience.
The school district invites you to come to as many of these meetings as is feasible for you. The outcome of this process is extremely important to the future of our community and these meetings are designed to help the school board make the most responsible decision for our community.
