RANGELY — Last Sunday, several of Rangely’s own traveled to Grand Junction to test their football skills against youngsters from all over western Colorado in the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition.
In order to qualify for the sectional round, these young athletes had to finish first in the local competition that was completed several weeks back.
The local winners were: Alfonso Sandoval and Katelyn Brown (8-9 yrs.), Kaulan Brady and Carrie Goddard (10-11 yrs.), Tobie Gasper and Quincey Thacker (12-13 yrs.), and Alex Richens and Holly Lepro (14-15 yrs.).
Out of these winners, Sandoval, Brown, Gasper, Richens and Lepro made the trip to Grand Junction to compete for a chance to go to the team finals at Invesco Field during a Denver Broncos game later this year.
Rangely will be represented at the finals by Brown and Lepro. Each of these girls placed first in their respective age groups at sectionals and will be advancing to the next round.
