RBC I Two newcomers were elected to the Meeker and Rangely school boards during Tuesday’s election.
Rebecca Rector was the top vote-getter for the Rangely School Board with 381 votes, outdistancing incumbent Adair Norman, who had 217 votes and will retain his seat on the board, and another challenger, Connie Mick, who received 147 votes.
The three candidates were running for two at-large positions on the school board. Both seats are for four-year terms.
Rangely School District will also need to appoint a replacement for Teri Holcomb, who resigned for health reasons. Board president Matt Scoggins was term-limited and prohibited from running.
In Meeker, Iris Franklin — an appointee to the school board last year — was the top vote-getter with 785. She was followed by Paul Neilson with 695 votes, Jerry Oldland with 568 and challenger Bill de Vergie with 546. Incumbent Ben Rogers received 520 votes. The five candidates were vying for four seats on the board.
