Sept. 10, 2016 marked a historic day for high school sports in Meeker. The new track was dedicated to Bob King during halftime at the first home football game of the season. The school board chose to dedicate the track to King not only because of the King family’s many donations to the project, but because of King’s dedication to the high school as a former superintendent. The King family will be in Meeker Oct. 7 for an official dedication of the completed track. When the project is completed, Meeker will once again be able to host track meets. Special thanks were given to the Meeker Education Foundation as the catalyst for funding the project. No school district money was spent. ERBM also made a generous donation that was needed to complete the track. The Town of Meeker provided a significant contribution by helping provide access to a consistent and sustainable water source. SGM provided engineering and surveying services, as well as in-kind donations. Krule Construction turned the idea into a reality and also made in-kind donations. Brett Steinacher, Brent Rowles, Roy Wedding, Russell McClain and Klark Kindler planned and prepped the field. And thanks were given to the football team for their patience and flexibility during the construction project.
