Gladys Johnson McSweeney

Gladys Johnson McSweeney, 91, of Rifle, passed away Nov. 20, 2008, at Grand River Hospital.
Gladys was born June 24, 1917, in Luverne, Minn., to Carl and Julia (Severeide) Johnson. She married Charles A. McSweeney on Aug. 28, 1954, in Washington, D.C., where she worked as an accounting clerk for the Department of Agriculture. They then retired to the Rifle area and remained there for the last 34 years. They had homes in Rifle, a ranch by Meeker and a second home in Taos, N.M.
Gladys is survived by her husband Charles; son Stephen (Camille) McSweeney; grandchild Heather Bair; sister-in-law Adah Bossart; nieces Elaine Hutchings, Marilyn Eilertson, Bernice Willems and Leona Johnson; and her nephews Dennis Johnson, Jerry Johnson and J.R. Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
A visitation was scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 23 at Rifle Funeral Home. A memorial service was held Monday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. at Rifle Funeral Home with Pastor Art Gould officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society.
