LeBlanc wins in Reno, ranked No. 1 nationally

MEEKER I Former Meeker Cowboy and current University of Wyoming Cowboy Joe LeBlanc won the Reno Tournament last weekend in Nevada and helped his team win the team championship, a first for the Cowboys.
“It’s a very big step for our program,” Wyoming head coach Mark Branch was quoted as saying in a press release. “We talk about how important it is to wrestle for your team. It took a huge effort. You’ve got to be prepared to scrap and fight and claw. Our goal wasn’t to come in and win the tournament, it was to come in and wrestle hard. I don’t think any of us expected to walk away with the team title, it’s a first for this program, for sure.”
Amateur Wrestling News and Intermat both have LeBlanc ranked as the No. 1, 184-pounder in the nation. LeBlanc, a redshirt junior, is a two-time All-American, having placed fifth and fourth, respectively, in the past two NCAA Division I national tournaments.
LeBlanc won five matches in Reno, including three by pin fall, a major decision and he defeated Luke Rebertes of Navy, 11-4 in the championship match.
LeBlanc and his family are expected to be in Meeker for Christmas.
