Meeker board holds candidates’ forum

MEEKER I The Meeker School Board held an informational meeting for prospective board candidates last Tuesday.
The board has four positions open due to a four-year rotation.
Board members whose terms expire are Iris Franklin, Paul Neilson, Jerry Oldland and Ben Rogers.
Interested candidates have until Aug. 28 to file at least 25 valid petitions and until Aug. 31 to file as a write-in candidate.
Doug Pfau, superintendent, provided information, including roles and responsibilities, expectations and information regarding the importance of positive communication and intra-board relationships.
Board members are expected to actively participate and attend meetings, as well as take initiative when appropriate.
Anyone who might be interested in running for the school board may contact Pfau at the district office. Additional informational packets are available.
A school board meeting was held Tuesday.
